Opinion: Amaechi’s Return To PDP Will Be One Of The Best Things To Happen To The Party Ahead Of 2023

Naija News 247 – Today Naija News

The Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is one of the strongest politicians in the South-South region of the country.

The former River State governor was instrumental to the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

Unfortunately, he has been at loggerhead for a long time with his successor, Nyesom Wike.

According to a report by Punch Newspaper, the Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Desmond Akawor, expressed confidence that the Minister of Transportation would return to the party.

Naija News 247 recalls that Rotimi Amaechi decamped from the PDP to the APC in 2013 after severally falling out with Patience Jonathan, former president’s wife.

Desmond Akawor said that Amaechi went to the All Progressive Congress to ensure that former President Goodluck Jonathan is defeated, he added that since the minister has succeeded on his mission, he will return to the PDP soon.

While you may say that this is just the personal opinion of the Rivers State PDP chairman, do not forget that this is politics, anything can happen.

We can remember how shocking it was when the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, defected from the APC to the PDP.

His shocking defection was followed up by a more shocking one; the defection of Senator Godswill Akpabio from the PDP to the APC.

As impossible as Rotimi Amaechi’s defection from the APC to the PDP may sound, it can happen. If it eventually happens, it will also be one of the best things to happen to the party as they prepare for the 2023 general elections.

If Amaechi joins the PDP and unites with Nyesom Wike, the whole South-South may be too difficult for the APC to capture.

They will find it relatively easy to win the Rivers State Governorship election and also deliver the South-South for PDP in the presidential election.

Looking at his political history, one may not be able to doubt the political might that Rotimi Amaechi carries, he was the only governor that survived series of attacks from the presidency during Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

There is no doubt that if he defects to the PDP, it will greatly boost the party’s chances at the 2023 general elections.

Dear readers, what can you say regarding this article?

Do you think that Amaechi will positively add to the fortunes of the PDP or not?
