However, they’ve been handed a tricky draw. Gernot Rohr’s men will take on seven-time Afcon champions Egypt, which is not an easy tie.

The three-time African champions will also take on Sudan, who denied 1996 champions, South Africa, a place in the competition.

Debutants, Guinea-Bissau, are the last team in Nigeria’s group. Nonetheless, Nigeria will feel confident of progressing to the next stage alongside Egypt.

In the other groups, Cameroon were handed a relatively easy draw against Burkina Faso, Cape Verde and Ethiopia.

The Teranga Lions of Senegal were paired against Zimbabwe, Guinea and Malawi. Group C will see Morocco take on Ghana, Comoros and Gabon.
